Rishikesh Day Trip From Delhi
DL0102
Trade the city hustle for the spiritual calm of the Himalayas with a Delhi to Rishikesh day trip. Known globally as the “Yoga Capital of the World,” this same-day tour offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and rich Indian philosophy. Located on the banks of the holy Ganges River, Rishikesh is famous for its ancient ashrams, scenic suspension bridges, and vibrant riverbank rituals. Enjoy a comfortable drive from the capital to explore iconic spots like the Beatles Ashram, walk the riverside ghats, and experience the powerful evening Ganga Aarti before returning. This well-planned itinerary gives you a deep dive into the spiritual heart of India in just one day.
The itinerary:
Start your day early with a morning pick-up from your location in Delhi. Relax in your private vehicle for a 4.5 to 5-hour drive heading north toward the forested foothills of the Himalayas.
- Arrival & The Suspension Bridges: Upon reaching Rishikesh, you will be greeted by your expert local guide. Start your walking tour around the famous suspension bridges, Ram Jhula and Janki Jhula, which span the rushing Ganges River. Enjoy the cool breeze and panoramic views of the green hills, temples, and riverside ashrams.
- The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia): Walk through the quiet pathways to visit the renowned Beatles Ashram. Now a part of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, this tranquil spot is where the famous band learned Transcendental Meditation in 1968. Explore the unique meditation caves, striking graffiti art, and peaceful forest surroundings with your guide.
- Lunch & Ashram Visits: Take a break for a fresh vegetarian lunch at a local riverside cafe. Afterward, visit notable spiritual centers like Parmarth Niketan or Swarg Ashram to understand the daily lives of spiritual seekers, students, and yoga practitioners.
- Evening Ganga Aarti: As the sun begins to set, head to the riverbanks (Parmarth Niketan or Triveni Ghat) to witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti. Watch as priests perform synchronized fire rituals accompanied by rhythmic chanting, music, and hundreds of small oil lamps floating on the holy river—a deeply moving and highly photogenic cultural experience.
- Return Journey: After the Aarti concludes, say goodbye to your guide and meet your driver. Settle into your car for the nighttime drive back to Delhi. You will be dropped off at your designated location by late evening.
