FAQs related to 05 Days Colours of Gujarat Tour

What is the most important thing to know before visiting the Calico Museum?

Advance booking is mandatory. The museum is extremely exclusive, and you cannot simply walk in. Registration must be done on their official website (calicomuseum.org) well in advance, as tours are limited to 20 people and book up weeks or even months ahead. Also, note that it is closed on Mondays.

Is a permit required for the White Rann (Great Rann of Kutch)?

Yes. The area is near the international border, so it is a sensitive zone. You must have a valid entry permit to enter the White Desert. How to get it: You can book it online at rannpermit.com or at the Bhirandiyara village checkpost on your way to Dhordo. Requirement: Carry a valid government-issued ID (like your Aadhar card or Passport) for yourself and all travelers.

What should I expect at the Little Rann of Kutch (LRK)?

This is the only home of the endangered Indian Wild Ass (Khur). The safari here is unique because the "terrain" is a vast, flat salt marsh. Keep in mind that the landscape is vast and open, so bring binoculars for birdwatching—it is an incredible site for spotting migratory birds, including flamingos (season dependent).

What are the must-see craft villages near Bhuj?

Bhujodi (textiles/handloom), Ludiya (mud work and lacquer art), and Bhirandiyara are essential stops. Buying directly from these artisans is the best way to ensure authenticity and support local livelihoods. Look for Ajrakh block printing and Roghan art, which are specific to this region.

Is photography allowed everywhere?

No. Photography is strictly prohibited at the Calico Museum in Ahmedabad. At the White Rann, you can take photos in designated viewing areas, but be mindful of security personnel near the border regions; always follow their instructions regarding where you can and cannot aim your camera.
