FAQs related to 03 Days Dwarka Somnath Temple Tour

What is the significance of the Dwarkadhish Temple and its evening Aarti?

The Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as the Jagat Mandir, is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here as the King of Dwarka. Attending the evening Aarti is a profound experience; the atmosphere is incredibly intense, with hundreds of devotees singing and chanting. It is highly recommended to arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes early to secure a good spot, as it can get very crowded.

How should I prepare for the visit to Bet Dwarka?

Bet Dwarka is an island located off the coast of Dwarka. You will need to take a short, scenic ferry ride to reach the main temple. Because it involves transit, it is best to complete this early on Day 1. Wear comfortable footwear, as there is a fair amount of walking once you reach the island. Keep in mind that ferry schedules can sometimes be subject to weather conditions, so confirm the timing with your driver before you head to the jetty.

What is the significance of the Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple?

Somnath is considered the first among the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The current temple is a masterpiece of modern architecture, built on the exact site where ancient temples stood for centuries, having been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history. The sight of the temple against the backdrop of the Arabian Sea is particularly breathtaking at sunset.

How can I manage the travel time between Dwarka and Somnath?

The drive is approximately 230 to 250 kilometers and will take about 5 to 6 hours. By including a stop in Porbandar, you break the journey up effectively. Start early on Day 2 to ensure you have enough time to explore Porbandar and still reach Somnath in time to catch the evening Aarti and the Light and Sound show.

What should I expect at the Triveni Ghat in Somnath?

Triveni Ghat is the sacred meeting point of three holy rivers—the Hiran, Kapila, and Saraswati—before they merge into the Arabian Sea. It is a deeply spiritual place where many pilgrims perform rituals and prayers. It is a great spot to sit quietly and reflect after visiting the main temple.
