FAQs related to 02 Days Velavadar Tour from Bhavnagar

Why is Velavadar National Park internationally famous?

Velavadar (Blackbuck National Park) is one of the best places in the world to see the Blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra). Because the park consists of flat, open grasslands, you get unobstructed, panoramic views of herds of these graceful, spiral-horned antelopes leaping across the plains. It is also one of the world's most significant wintering grounds for the Montagu's, Pallid, and Marsh Harriers (raptors), which congregate here in the thousands during the winter months.

Is the Jeep Safari conducted inside the park, or on the periphery?

Your package includes a jungle safari inside the core area of the National Park. You will be accompanied by a forest department-approved guide in an open-top Gypsy. This is crucial because the park strictly prohibits private vehicles from wandering off-road; the guided jeep allows you to get close to the wildlife without disturbing the ecosystem.

How do I coordinate the Koliyak Beach/Nishkalank Mahadev visit?

This is a tidal-dependent site. The Nishkalank Mahadev temple is only accessible during low tide when the sea recedes. You must coordinate with your driver and the resort staff to align your departure from Bhavnagar or your afternoon schedule with the local tidal timings. If you arrive during high tide, the temple will be completely submerged under the Arabian Sea.

What should I pack for the Velavadar safari?

Neutral Colors: Avoid bright colors like neon, red, or white, as they can alert and startle the wildlife, especially the shy Blackbucks and wolves. Stick to olive, brown, or dull-toned clothing. Binoculars: The park is vast and open. Having your own pair of binoculars will vastly improve your experience, allowing you to spot distant wolves or raptors that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye. Dust Protection: Since it is a grassland, it can be very dusty. Bring a scarf or buff to cover your nose and mouth during the jeep ride.

Are there any specific rules for the Victoria Park visit?

Victoria Park is a 500-acre man-made forest in Bhavnagar. It is an excellent spot for birding and nature walks. Please stay on the designated paths; while it is a managed forest, it is still a natural habitat for local wildlife like jackals and various snakes.
